New Hair Cut

Oh there is something so refreshing about getting a new haircut. I have been letting my hair grow out for over a year now, probably closer to a year and a half or more. It was just getting to a point where it wouldn't do anything. I couldn't even pull it up in a clip. So it was time for a change. I had my appointment today and whacked it all off. What a great weight off my shoulders...literally! Any hooo.....here is a before and after.

Some Ketchin' up to do!

Ok, so we have had some crazy, busy weeks this last little while so there are things I haven't posted yet that I guess I better post. So I will do this all on one post.

For starters, a while back we had DR. SEAUS day at school along with crazy hair and pajama day. So Me and Steph dressed up for the part. Hey any chance I can get to go to school in my pj's well hey...I'M THERE! So here is some pics of this day.

Sam has had a few of her basketball games and has done well in them, unfortunately they haven't won a game yet but they still do a good job.

Mike quit taking guitar so that she could focus on drill team. She knows that drill we be keeping her very busy. She had a great time at Provita Show case where she was able to dance with her Emotion in Motion Dance Company. She had a few ooops in this dance, but she still does well. She landed her C-jump wrong, then her hair started falling out of her bun and distracted her. But she still kept smiling, and having a great attitude. They will be competing in St. George on April 18th. Here is her video clip of their dance at Provita Showcase.

Also at Provita Showcase they had Gev and his dance crew come. Gev was on so you think you can dance. He was also on High School Musical 2 and 3. He came and danced with the drill team. Emotion in Motion got to spend some time with them too. Here is a clip of Gev from SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.

Here he is dancing with the drill team.

Here is some pics of Emotion in Motion Dance Company with Gev and his dance crew.

And this last pic is Mike's favorite! Just him and her. She said they were very nice guys and down to earth.

Also they introduced the new drill team for 2009-2010.

Ok on a traveling note....me and the girls took off for St. George last weekend. We did some spring shopping and just a lot of lazy time around at Moms house. We are all so excited to wear our new spring clothes, but the weather just wont cooperate! Whats up with that!

Mike talked in church a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to post her talk on the blog, but she flat out told me NO! So I have no idea where to look for it to sneak it on here so I guess I wont post it....Stinker child of mine!

On a personal note....I had my first mammogram this week. And lets just say that all those emails and jokes about mammograms are TRUE! OUCH....no more said on that.

Quite a few weeks ago I got to go see the construction on our new NEBO VIEW ELEMENTARY. As most of you know this is being done in the old Red Cliffs School. We got to see our new faculty room.......ok small for even a bug! So we all put in our opinions and they will be now knocking out some closets and expanding our faculty room so we can have some room to sit and eat our lunch. But there has been alot of new changes in there. It will be neat to see when it is all finished. I will have two computer labs at the new school.

March 27 was the day my Dad died. He died in 1992 from a stroke when he was only 50. I miss him much!

Ok i finally made a phone call to Missy W. about getting my hair cut. I haven't had it cut for over a year! I almost cut it off my self yesterday, but Kurtis wouldn't let me.....thank goodness. So Tuesday I go in for a new look. YAY

Ok, I think I am caught up know. I'll just leave you with one of my favorite quotes. (I'm still trying to figure out how to live by this.......not easy!)

It's a simple task to make things complex, but a complex task to make things simple.

Ok, it's Mikes turn to shine. I am so proud of her. Wednesday night she tried out for drill team. She did such a great job. Even with a hip injury she made the team. With lots of ibuprofen, physical therapy, heat and ice packs, she toughed it out. She has wanted this ever since she was two years old, and I am not exaggerating! It is true. Dance is such a big part of her life. She wants to thank all those who sent her flowers, balloons, gifts, and also those who came to watch her. We are all so proud of her and wish her a great drill team year! Go Mike!

Here is the lineup for the final judging.

Jake came to support Mike and brought her roses. How sweet!

Our house looked and smelled like a floral shop from wonderful friends and family who supported Mike.

SHE'S DONE IT AGAIN

Yep, I feel like I'll have bragged about lately is Sam, but I guess I need to brag about her again. (don't worry Mike & Steph , your bragging turns are coming sometime). Her basketball team played there last city league game today. Unfortunately they lost this game, but they had won enough through out their season that the team took 1st place. They were short one player today which left them with five girls playing the whole game. They did a great job. But now city league is over and we now move onto her 7th grade basketball season which starts up this week with a game in Fillmore against Millard. Good Job Sam and Good luck!

SPEAKER IN THE HOUSE

Today Sam had to give a talk in sacrament as one of the youth speakers. She did such a great job and was such a good sport about it since this was the day of Cade Brough's Farewell which meant we might as well of had Stake conference.....it was almost that full in there..LOL. Any way I am so proud of her, not just because she took the challenge and got up their and talked, but for the fact that she wrote the talk herself. No help from anyone. It was done all on her own.....well except for the help she got from Gordon B. Hinkley. Using one of his quotes fit right into her talk. So I thought I would post this talk because it was very good.

****Brother Peterson asked me to talk on a value in the "For the Strength of Youth" booklet. When he called me and asked me, my brain said no but my mouth said yes. So here I am. I decided to talk on friends. Friends can really make or break you. When you choose your friends you should choose carefully. They should have the same values as you do. If they don't they may influence you to do things you normally wouldn't. That doesn't mean you can't be friends with people who aren't very righteous. You may influence them to be righteous. Also when you choose your friends you should take into consideration do you feel you can be yourself around them. To have good friends you have to be a good friend. Let all your friends know you care about them. Treat everyone like you would want to be treated. Go out of your way to help a friend who may be shy or feels left out. Invite non-members to go to church with you. Try to make them feel welcome. Even if they don't go with you should still be their friend and try to influence them to be righteous. You should try to be a friend to everyone. Even if everyone thinks they are weird that doesn't mean you have to. You never know..they may turn out to be one of your best friends. You should try to treat everyone the same. President Gordon B. Hinkley wrote "I do not like labels, I don't like to categorize people. We are all individuals men and women, sons and daughters of God, not a mass of look alikes or do alikes. All of us are very much alike. In our capacity to think, to reason, to be miserable, if you please. In our need to be happy to love and be loved. We are subject to the same pains, the same sensitivities, the same emotions. We are all individuals living together hopefully with respect for one another not withstanding our unique personal situations." You don't have to br everyone's best friend. You can just be their friend. A simple smile or hello can make a big impact. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen****

Again I am very proud of Sam for giving this talk. Sam has faced many great and wonderful things with great and wonderful friends. But there was a time when Sam had some enormous hardships with friends because she always fought for the underdog. She became ridiculed and tormented because of this. So I know this talk comes from her heart, her experiences and her strenghts that have emerged through her trials. We are all proud of her!

BASKETBALL.....ITS HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME!

Congratulations are in order for Sam today! Hooray Sam! Sam made the 7th grade girls Basketball Team. Out of 26 girls 14 made the team. I always new she had the talent, but three days of her trying out has left me with an ulcer! Maybe now I can get my guts back in order. Great job Sam!

My New Baby

Ok, so it's not a real baby and I'm not making any announcements to have a baby (I'm way to old for that now!), but I did get a new toy. Yay!!!! My new computer. We have known for quite sometime that we needed to replace our computer but we weren't quite sure which one to go with. We have been weighing out all of our options and trying to decide what would be best. Since I have been working at the school and working with the Apple computers I have been swaying back and forth rather I am a PC or a Mac. Well....guess what ........in the computer world I came to the dark side......the Apple side. Which in my view is the bright side. I honestly have loved working with the Macs at school. I didn't think I would, but the more I worked on them the more I really enjoyed them. But to top it off I got the best of both worlds. The Mac I have will run Apples Leopard OS and it will also run Windows. So in all seriousness I have two computers in one. But now I have to way my options to see if I am going to let anyone else use it.........hmmmm they can all still use the slowed down virus infected computer can't they. I'll have to give this one allot of thought LOL.
