Mesquite Softball Tournement

Ok, so Kurtis, Sam and Steph and myself, headed on down to St. George Friday morning to Stay with mom and John. Mike had to stay home because she had a basketball game that she had to dance at. Stephanie had softball tournaments in Mesquite, Nevada on Friday night and Saturday. We unloaded all are luggage at moms and got ready to head on down to Mesquite. The weather wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be that first night. Her first game was 6:00 Nevada time which meant 7:00 our time, so you now even down there this time of year it is going to be a little bit chilly, but we survived! They one their first two games that night. We didn't get back to St. George until about midnight. We were all so tired but yet thankful from their two wins, they didn't have to be back until Saturday around 11:00 their time, which was 12:00 our time. YEAH! So we got up the next morning and got ready to head back on down. Here is Sam getting ready before we left. Here is Steph roaming around grandmas house while talking on the phone in her uniform and sporting her favorite boots! Gotta love the look!
We got their a little early so the girls could warm up. I sat in the van while they warmed up just so I could stay warm until the game. The wind was very chilly and the clouds were really starting to move in.
So they played their games on Saturday and did a great a job. They won their games. Here is Steph from one of the games.
Here she is on 1st base
then on to home for a slide! I better get some good color bleach cuz I think I'm going to need it.Here the girls are clearing out of their dugout after one of the games.
And then getting ready for a lunch break. We all went to McDonald's for lunch but we brought Stephs back to her. She wanted to stay so she could practice up for the next game. But from what I heard she had fun with her happy meal toy. Something about dancing around while it was singing "I like to move it move it". Supposedly someone has it on video. Can't wait to see it. During one of the games there was a man sitting to the side of us who was from the other team. He continued to make rude comments about our team and saying things like "these girls can't hit" and just being quite loud and rude...(doesn't every game have to have one of those?). So after the game me and Sam were joking around about him, so here is us thinking about that man
And here is us showing our appreciation to him.
Ok, so maybe that wasn't very nice, but at least we didn't do it to his face and we were doing it all in fun. Ok and just a few minuets after that Steph came walking up with the same expression on her face...I wondered if she was thinking the same thing we were. LOL

Another game we all just sat up on a hill and watched. We had our umbrellas, big coats, and blankets ready. Some even had the shade shelters set up only this time they were not for shade, but wind and rain.
One minute it would be cold the next just a little warm. Coats were off and then they were put back on. But then there was me and Sam. We just kept fighting over the blanket. She'd say I was taking to much then I'd say she was. But I won! J/K, we both won! We share well. LOL
Here the girls are warming up......which is something we all needed about this time...some good warming up! The clouds were really starting to roll in.

But, like I said the clouds kept coming and coming until we were all huddle in little huts made of umbrellas, coats, blankets and such. I wish I could have got a picture of all of us crouching down under the shelter the best we could, but I wasn't going out there with my camera in that rain, because yes, it became a great down pour. We tried to tough it out but then the lighting came, and boy was it hitting very close to the ball fields. We all finally grabbed our stuff with blankets dragging behind us hitting all the puddles along the way until we made it to our cars. So then what do we do. Make the best of it inside the van while the rain comes down. Sam got a hold of the camera and went ballistic on me.
So I got even
Kurtis spent a lot of time in the rain trying to going back and forth gathering up things and finding out what was going on. He got just a little wet,

But then again there was rainrain,
rain,
and even more rain
which brought to the van, two little drowned rats! Kaitlyn and Steph. Now look at those two....couldn't they pass for twins!?
I really think we sat in the van for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. No joke! Of course the rain couldn't keep Steph held up in the van so on with the boots (of course) and the UDOT jacket and out in the rain she went. But when all was said and done and the rain took a moment to chill. Nephi Steelers won first place in the tournement. Can you find Steph...just look for the neon girl with boots on!Every photo shoot has to have a funny face doesn't it? Expecially when you are excited to be #1!
And here our the proud parents of Stephanie! And the proud parents with Stephanie's proud sister......or sister who is eagrly waiting to get back to St. George and eat FOOOOOD!
The team is waiting patiently for the award ceremony, and let me tell you a took a long time for them to put this together. We waited forever, but while we were waiting, I started coming down with a migraine. (I forgot my harmone pill the night before...now I am paying for it!). For those of you who get migraines now the little twinkling in the eyes you get before the headache comes!!! I call it the prism lights. Mom quickly gave me an Imitrex and I took one of my Anti nautios medicine so I wouldn't throw up, (I am not supose to throw up for a year from my surgery) and went to the van and layed down during the award ceremony. I sent Kurtis and my mom with my camera so I could see what was happening, because obviously I couldn't see anything at this point until the prisms were gone.
Yay! The trophy
Steph is getting her madalion
Here are some pretty excited girls!
They even got hoodies from the tournament

When we got back to moms house poor Steph was so exhausted but I wanted a picture of her with her new hoodie and medalion. When I said smile, this is the best I could get.
Here is how she ended up waiting for Grandma to cook us a yummy dinner.

Here is where Kurtis ended up when we got home. Dang him...he beat me to facebook!
John crashed in the chair while playing with Koda

Poor cat is getting old and his eyes are getting bad! He has ulcers on them right now. Mom and John are giving him drops to try and help his eyes.
Sam ended up in front of the tv in her room. (now thats a shock!)
And as for me, I ended up in the tub to get my frozen body warm. Sorry no pictures of that one! But after my bath I ended up in my other favorite place....in front of the fire place! Gotta love the heat! And yay! Dinner time! Thank you Mom for cooking us dinner. Everyone loved it! You always take such good care of us when we come down!
And then to top off Stephs weekend, here is where she ended up after dinner. In front of the fire.
So how could I resist.....in front of the fire? I think I will join her.
I have to laugh though because Steph's nickname on the team is Sugar Rush....well I think the rush is over....at least for tonight.
